With no formal coaching experience or guidance on the back, it was tough to coach others. Weak market, low paying capacity, and clutter of traditional motivational speeches, trainings and teaching makes it even tougher to go for coaching. It also takes more time to deliver result because of its one-on-one nature and need for customized solutions.
I followed ruthlessly the work of few performance coaches i.e. Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, Brendon Burchard to crack some kind of code out of it. After gathering frameworks regarding how this industry work, I try to arrange my knowledge and thoughts in a way so I can coach others for better results.
- Got students and professionals as my clients.
- Still going in the game
- Build multiple coaching products
I will stick to one product and make sure I package it well and build overall empire around it.
I will balance the amount of consumption of content with creation of content. Way less consumption and way more creation.
- Getting a client is easy but making sure we can take him from point A to B is the real hard game.
- Expectation escalation is the biggest enemy in the field of coaching so it is better to write the contract up front so client and coach both must get clear what they are aiming for.
- Upsells can kill the coaching process.
- Total immersion is the most underrated way to coach someone.
- Ignoring the role an environment can play during the process of coaching is the most naïve mistake one can make.
