When You Need To
Stand Up & When To Quit
Dear Student
We are living in a culture where everybody have a story to tell and with the easy access to social media, everyone is entering into motivational culture. This free and easy to enter market create a serious amount of competition for content creators and individuals. You need to constantly showing up with great content, otherwise you will be left behind. This urgency and must-to-show-up culture create lots of unchallenged content that is, if applied, not as worthy as we think.
Most of you guys already listen or read a line “Quitters never wins, and Winners never Quits”. These kind of motivational punch lines are good to speak and good to impress but are they really applicable in real world? No. We need to test ideas like these in real world before we believe them.
I will stick with the above given example and will tell you that if you want to win big, you need to quit a lot. You need to quit habits, you need to quit bad strategies, you need to quit the path not helping you to reach the destination, you need to quit most of things not working or helping you to achieve whatever you want.
Mostly people keeps on suffering even they know that they need to quit. They don’t quit because there is a cultural training about the belief that quitters never win. This thing put extra bit of pressure on every one of us. Students don’t want to quit the degree even if they know that they are wasting time and not interested in doing this. Professionals stick to boring and disastrous job just to maintain there image in society.
You need to understand that you can stay with an existing path until its working and you can leave it whenever you want. There is no such thing quitters never win. Leaving what is not working is a part of strategy not something bad to do.
Yes, you also need to take care of the fact that you don’t make it as an excuse to quit on everything. You can only quit if you play your complete part but still thing or idea is not working. Without putting in your complete effort, you can’t quit the idea. Otherwise it will not be a strategy but pure laziness. So, from today onward, challenge the traditional assumption before you accept them as a rule of thumb.
