When You Need To
Accept Your Ignorance and Limitations
Dear Student
Learning anything can give you competitive advantage in life but there is nothing more beneficial than learning how to think critical. There are hundreds of concepts and skills depends on this one Meta-Ability.
Critical thinking, and wisdom, starts from accepting ignorance and limitations. It starts from the point when you understand and accept the fact that you know little about how life and world works. This not only helps you to become humble and open minded but it also helps you in figuring things out quickly. People start losing their urge to learn something new after they finish their schooling. It is because that inside their brain they give themselves the message that “They Know everything”. But they don’t. Nobody know everything.
Accepting and understanding ignorance and limitation starts with knowing that success always comes with an illusion. What does that means? It means that when you do anything successfully, your brain try to replicate same methodology again and again to get same results. This dependency on already practiced path is good but can cause us complacency and blind our ability to learn something new. You need to understand that you don’t know the real reason of successes in the past. You don’t know which variable or factor causes the success. Then, how are you so sure about being replicating it again?
Another key step to understand and accept our limitations is to know how to get and act on feedback. Ignoring feedback is a sign that we are hiding from something. It is sign that we are hiding behind our past methodologies. You need to listen feedback carefully to become critical thinker. Feedback helps you in finding your core flaws and give you different perspective.
Category 2 decisions require lots more thorough thinking and use of luck to your own advantage.
You can use whatever method or strategy you want to take right decision. But there are 10 principles of decision making you must consider. These principles will not only help before any decision taken but also during and after decision. One of these ten principles will also help you to deal with luck appropriately.
